Elon Musk's 3 Predictions About the Future

by HN Porter of tech4today.net
Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX and co-founder of Tesla has proven himself to be a man with no limiting believes. Up until today, he has unveiled a concept for a high-speed transportation system Hyperloop, revolutionized electric cars and founded companies (Tesla Motors and SpaceX), that launched a landmark commercial spacecraft in 2012.

So it comes to no surprise that when the billionaire CEO talks, the world listens. In his 2017 TED talk he said:
"I think it's important to have a future that is inspiring and appealing. I just think there have to be reasons that you get up in the morning and you want to live. Like, why do you want to live? What's the point? What inspires you? What do you love about the future?"

Musks practical and careful vision of the future includes human beings living on multiple planets as one of the possible outcomes in a true spirit of an engineer he had the following to say about his method of predicting the future, "I look at the future from the standpoint of probabilities. It's like a branching stream of probabilities, and there are actions that we can take that affect those probabilities or that accelerate one thing or slow down another thing,"
"And if we're not out there if the future does not include being out there among the stars and being a multiplanet species, I find that it's incredibly depressing if that's not the future that we're going to have," the Techpreneur added.

With the commencement of the new year, let us look into there predictions made by Musk for the future:

1. In 7 to 10 years, the first humans will colonize Mars.
In a twitter conversation last November, Musk said it'll be 7 to 10 years until the first group of humans colonizes Mars. He also said he imagines it will be "engineers, artists, and creatives of all kinds" who will go to Mars first.

"It's gonna be hard, there's a good chance of death, going in a little can through deep space, you might land successfully, once you land successfully you'll be working non-stop to build the base — so not much time for leisure — and once you get there, even after all this, there's a very harsh environment, so there's a good chance you'll die there. We think you can come back but we're not sure," Musk told Axios in November.

2. You will be able to connect your brain to computers in 10 years.
Besides Tesla and SpaceX Musk also has a neurotechnology company, Neuralink, which according to its website is "developing ultra-high bandwidth brain-machine interfaces to connect humans and computers,"
Musk told Axios that, "The long-term aspiration with Neuralink would be to achieve symbiosis with artificial intelligence…to achieve a sort of democratization of intelligence, such that it is not monopolistically held in a purely digital form by governments and large corporations,"
That will be done by connecting computer electrodes to neurons in your brain — "a chip and a bunch of tiny wires" that will be "implanted in your skull. I believe this can be done. ... It's probably on the order of a decade," Musk said.
I believe this can be done. ... It's probably on the order of a decade".

"And by the way, you kind of have this already in a weird way: You have a digital tertiary layer in the form of your phone, your computers, your watch. You basically have these computing devices that form a tertiary layer on your cognition already," Musk added, according to Axios.

3. Tesla's 'cyberpunk' pickup truck prototype could be here in 2019.
The Tech CEO has been putting in overtime to wrap up the Model 3 Tesla production, yet he is alreday making hints for new products. In December he tweeted, (sic) "I'm dying to make a pickup truck so bad … we might have a prototype to unveil next year,".

"We've got the pickup truck, which — actually, I'm personally most excited about the pickup truck," Musk told Swisher in October. "It's gonna be like a really futuristic like cyberpunk, 'Blade Runner' pickup truck. It's gonna be awesome, it's gonna be amazing. … This will be heart-stopping. It stops my heart. It's like, oh, it's great."

"It's like I really wanted something that's like super-futuristic cyberpunk. Which, if it doesn't ... if I'm weirdly like ... if there's only a small number of people that like that truck, I guess we'll make a more conventional truck in the future. But it's the thing that I am personally most fired up about. It's gonna have a lot of titanium,"  He added

Why Go For a Non-contract Deal For Your Services?

by CJ Nice of tech4today.net
When you just moved in a new home the first thing you want to settle before moving in is getting your services installed beforehand. One of the reasons is if you are internet dependent with your business, studies or work you won't want to have those tasks getting piled up.

There are two kinds of area coverage which will determine what cable company is suitable for you. First is if your area goes with only satellite cable internet providers. Most of them do offer services with contracts because of the equipment they will use. Second choices are the non-satellite or wired ones.

What are the advantages of going with non contract deals?
1. There's more room to make changes with the package. You can either add or remove some programs with your channel line-up or the speed of your internet.

2. You can move the service anytime. If you are transferring to a new address it will be easier to move the service.

3. You can cancel service anytime. If you are no longer satisfied with the services then you can cancel it without paying or looking for another cable internet provider that offers a buy out contract.

4. You can subscribe to a different plan. Which depends on the 'already customer' promotions available the company offers.

5. You can transfer the service under a different name.

These are just few reasons if you have more you can comment down below. I was just able to figure out that if the service is good enough they won't tie you up in any contract because they are confident enough with their services. But in some cases of course it could be because of the expensive equipment they need to use or the labor work and complexity of the job.

Spectrum Subscribers Might Lose Sports and Entertainment TV Programs This 2019

by CJ Nice of tech4today.net

Customers might not be able to catch their most awaited football games in their cable tv. Contract between Spectrum, the service provider, and Tribune Media is about to expire this first of January. However, no final agreement has been done.

“The NFL playoffs begin January 5 and we want football fans in our markets to be able to watch these games and root for their favorite teams—we want to reach an agreement with Spectrum,” said Gary Weitman, Tribune Media’s senior vice president for corporate relations. “We’ve offered Spectrum fair market rates for our top-rated local news, live sports and high-quality entertainment programming, and similarly fair rates for our cable network, WGN America. Spectrum has refused our offer.”

He added: “We are only a few days away from the deadline to reach an agreement with Spectrum, just as we have done with every one of our other cable, satellite and telco distributors. We felt that now was the time to begin telling Spectrum subscribers that they may lose access to our stations and the programming they provide.

Contract will be expired in few days however the said cable internet provider is still negotiating further.

Tips on How to Lower Your Internet Service Bill

by HN Porter of tech4today.net
How do you make sure that you are getting the best value for your money from your internet provider? Even if you opt for cheaper Wi-Fi, will it still be able to accommodate your usage needs? We've put together a few tips to help you look into your internet package and mend it to fit your budget.

1. Reduce your internet speed.
Most home internet providers promise their customers high internet speed, however, it's important to consider if what you are getting is really necessary for your household or not. Putting into consideration the internet usage of your household decide what speed n=best suits you and if it is lower than what you have now call your internet provider and reduce the speed with them.

2. Negotiate your internet bill for a better deal.
Research for better internet deals and promotions that your internet provider or their competitors may be running. Once you find something you like call your internet provider and negotiate with them and firmly inform them of the options you will turn to should they refuse to agree to negotiation.

Most providers actually offer cable and internet deals that will allow the customer to save some money when they bundle up the services as compared to buying single services.

4. Buy your own equipment (e.g modem and router) instead of renting from your internet provider.
Most internet providers give you the option of renting equipment from them for your internet service at an extra charge per month. However, that small monthly charge adds up over time and defeats your goal to save money.

5. Search for government incentives.
The government offers incentives for broadband internet for people who fall below a certain income threshold or are enrolled in certain government programs. You can check if you qualify for this at everyoneon.org.

T-Mobile CEO Promises Cable Internet Providers Tight Competition in 2019

by HN Porter of tech4today.net

Earlier this year T-mobile announced that it will be launching its own cable-disrupting service by the end of 2018. However, in a recent report, it was revealed that the service company will be postponing the launch to 2019 as it needs more time to produce a truly ‘disruptive’ offering.

The company's TV service was confirmed by an FCC listing which appeared in early November that a set-top box with the carrier's logo.

Earlier this month the company was given two options to either launch a mediocre TV service product this year or postpone it and launch a better service next year. In a statement done later by the company, they announced that they opted with postponing the launch.

In a recent blog, T-Mobile CEO John Legere wrote:
“In 2019, we’ll take our first steps to take on another stupid, broken, arrogant industry—maybe the stupidest, brokenest, arrogantest industry of all: cable and satellite TV,”.
He, however, did not give any details as to why the launch was delayed. He, however, predicted great success for the company as a new cable provider which has already been suffering significant losses due to cord cutting.

“The Cableopoly doesn’t know how to treat customers or how to compete,” Legere wrote. “And when they face competition, things will go to hell. That’s what will start to happen to Big Cable in 2019.”
Legere announced his positive predictions about the company in his annual blogging of predictions and boasts of the upcoming year. The CEOs predictions have a neutral reputation with a few hits and miss in the past years. He correctly predicted Verizon’s short video service Go90 would fail, but also predicted the fall of  Dish Network, which still survives as an independent company today.
Legere also took some time to throw some shots at competitors Verizon and AT&T, stating that T-Mobile would offer faster 5G wireless service nationwide, while his competitors would have more limited offerings. And he predicted Verizon would sell its digital media and advertising unit, Oath.

Spectrum unobtrusively reveals a streaming TV service

by JE Cool of tech4today.net Spectrum , the prevailing cable organization in Southern California, has woken up and smelled the line cut...
